Food in your fridge : Store it right

Every food has an ideal spot in your fridge for storage. If you are not storing things in the right place, You are not taking advantage of the refrigeration. Not only do refrigerators have different compartments that serve different purposes, they also have different temperature zones. Storing your food right in your friedge would avoid loss of food, money and frustration at the wastage. Here are a few tips for the storage and keeping food fresh in the fridge.

The fridge doors.

Keep mayo, ketchup, mustard, bottled water, soda, juices in the fridge doors. the doors are warmest area of the fridge and should be reserved for foods that are most resistant to spoiling. certain condiments like chutney, pickles, murabbaas etc, most juices (not fresh), can stand up to temperature fluctuations here. Don't store eggs on the door in those little egg holders many fridges have. eggs need to be kept in a spot with consistent cool temperature.

The Upper Shelves.

They have the most consistent temperatures. place foods such as hummus, olives and deli meant that don't need to be cooked/ or are for reheating, near the top of the fridge. berries will last longer here. they rippen and rot much quicker if kept in the drawers. Herbs are also great for the upper shelves, and you could wash and then store them in a container. you could even wrap them in a paper towel.

The lower Shelves.

they are the coldest. keep dairy eggs, milk, butter, youguert, cheese and creame here. store milk at the back of the bottom shelf where the fridge is the coldest. the butter compartment on the door if your fridge is not the best place to store it. opening and closing the door of the refrigeratir can cause the average temperature to rise. the best place to store your butter is toward the back of your fridge where the temprature is more consistently cold. if you want to have room temperature butter in your home. slice a portion of and store it in butter dish and fill up when you need it.
